Letterpress in Arezzo
The collaboration between the CIAC and the Tipografia Sociale in Arezzo began almost by accident. Paolo Lazzarelli, the owner, had made his shop available for a workshop with the American typographer Amos P. Kennedy jr.
The course was a success, as was the meeting between Paolo and Amos, and so we began to think of offering a series of classes and pass on to young students Paolo's experience and Amos creative approach.
We wish to create a fertile ground so that typographic manifestos may be printed, exhibited, read and lived as artistic expression and important way of communication.
Our intent is practical, we simply want to see more manifestos printed by hand!
During the 2009/2010 winter we will propose two courses with Paolo Lazzarelli.
Each student can participate to one or more courses. Once a basic level of knowledge is reached, the student can rent one of the two hand presses in Paolo's tipografia and work on a project side by side with Paolo.
